Kei Kamara returns to Leone Stars ahead of Chad and Zambia Crucial Encounters

By Desmond Tunde Coker

Ahead of Sierra Leone’s crucial AFCON encounter, Coach Amidu KARIM has included MLS striker Kei Ansu Kamara in the Leone Stars squad after coming from retirement a few years ago. The match is a must-win  for Leone Stars if they are to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco. Leone Stars have departed Freetown to face Chad in a crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match, set to take place in Ivory Coast. Due to current logistical challenges, Chad has designated Ivory Coast as their home ground, adding an extra layer of intensity to the encounter.

Sierra Leone’s lineup for the doubleheader includes some key returns, as Kei Ansu Kamara, Alhaji Kamara—popularly known as “Andriano”—and Ibrahim Turay, also called “Ib Computer,” along with Moses Turay, rejoining the squad after a prolonged absence. The return of these players has raised fans’ hopes as they look forward to a strong performance from their team.

With a “must-win” scenario looming, the Leone Stars are focused on securing a victory to keep their AFCON qualification dream alive. Sierra Leone will, however, be without Alhassan Koroma and Hindolo due to injuries, posing a challenge to the team’s depth and tactical approach.

Supporters of the Leone Stars are rallying behind their team, ready to offer their full support as Sierra Leone strives to make it through this qualifying campaign. All eyes will be on Ivory Coast this Wednesday, as fans hope to witness a triumphant step toward AFCON 2025.
