Kingho hands over School & Water Projects to Kamasondo Chiefdom

On Sunday10th of April  2022, Kingho Railway & Port which is a subsidiary of Leone Rock Metal Group on Sunday April 10, 2022,  handed over two community projects to Kamasondo  Chiefdom, Port Loko District.

The projects are the construction of Water Supply System in Pepel Town and the rehabilitation of the SLMB Primary School in Borpo.

The handing over ceremony was chaired by the Resident Minister of the North-western Region Hon. Alpha Kanu.

 The event was graced by the Regent Paramount Chief of Kamasondo Chiefdom, the Speaker, the community stakeholders, and company officials.

The Hon Alpha Kanu, an indigene of the Kamasondo chiefdom, gave a brief background on the SLMB Primary School. He stated that the school was one of the oldest in the Port Loko District and he’s elated that Kingho Railway & Port decided to rehabilitate it.

The headteacher, Mr. Ben Kargbo, said that the pupils of the school were struggling to learn in an unconducive environment. He appreciated Kingo Railway & Port in ensuring the classrooms of the school are well paved and the building renovated.

The community stakeholders, Regent Paramount Chief, the Chiefdom Speaker, the Chairlady and the inspector of schools from the Ministry of Basic Education, were very impressed with the rehabilitation of the school.

The Minister for the Northern Region in his closing statement advised parents to support their children in ensuring they gain access to education.

In another development, the company undertook the handing over of the water supply system to Pepel Town.

In Pepel, speeches were made by the community stakeholders on how they appreciated Kingho Railway & Port Company for providing them with safe and pure drinking water.

A discussion was also held on ways in which the company would be able to create more employment opportunities for the youths of the community.

Speaking on behalf of the company, Mr Wu, Community Manager, said the CDAP Project in the communities will continue without hindrance. He said the company injected some money last year, and will continue until the future. He said the company is a community company that prioritizes welfare as one of its top priorities. He called on community people  to have confidence in the company, “as Leone Rock Metal Group is here to stay”. Both projects were well appreciated by all in the communities in Kamasondo Chiefdom whilst at the same time anticipating Kingho’s continued support.
