By Desmond Tunde Coker

The ongoing Leone Rock Premier League 2024/2025 season has seen an unprecedented turnout of fans and some exciting surprises. Over the weekend, several unexpected results came from the bigger teams, including a notable win for Ports Authority.

Bo Rangers ended Old Edwardians’ 100% record in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory at the Southern Arena on Sunday. Suffian Kalokoh scored twice and Abu Komeh added another goal to secure a vital win for the defending champions. Although Old Edwardians’ Michael Bangura scored an early goal in the 16th minute, it was not enough to stop Bo Rangers. The win moved Bo Rangers to sixth place in the table with seven points after a poor start to the new season.

At the Approved School, Ports Authority registered their first win of the Premier League season, defeating Luawa Football Club 1-0. Abass Conteh’s goal in the 83rd minute secured the win for the Water Front Boys.

At the SLFA Academy, Diamond Stars drew 1-1 with newcomers Stars Sport Academy. Foday Turay’s goal for Diamond Stars was canceled out by Mohamed Lamin Fofanah’s goal for the hosts.

Wusum Stars held Wilberforce to a goalless draw at the Wusum Field, ending Wilberforce’s 100% record in the Premier League. In the last four meetings between these two sides, Wusum Stars have the upper hand with three wins, while Wilberforce have won only once.

Current league leaders Bhantal FC maintained their perfect record by defeating Bai Bureh Warriors 1-0, thanks to Alusine K. Sesay’s goal. This victory gave Bhantal FC a significant boost, as they now have 12 points from just four matches. A total of 15 goals were scored during match week 4.

Match week 5 will begin on Wednesday, with FCFC hosting East End Lions at the Approved School.
