Leone Stars Boost World Cup Hopes with Victory Over Guinea-Bissau

Sierra Leone’s national football team, the Leone Stars, achieved a crucial 3-1 victory against Guinea-Bissau on March 20, 2025, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Liberia, revitalizing their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Mustapha Bundu opened the scoring in the 19th minute, followed by Musa Noah Kamara’s goal in the 61st minute, extending Sierra Leone’s lead. Guinea-Bissau’s Tamble Monteiro responded in the 68th minute, but Ibrahim Turay’s stoppage-time goal in the 96th minute sealed the win.

Under new head coach Mohamed Kallon, the Leone Stars have adopted a strategic approach, blending experienced players like veteran striker Kei Kamara and nurturing young talents, including 19-year-old defender Abdulai Juma Bah.
