Leone Stars suffer another defeat to DRC 3-0

It was another disappointing day for Sierra Leone’s senior male football team Leone Stars as they were once again put down by a 3-0 defeat by DR Congo’s Leopards at the Stade Père Jégo on Tuesday.

Prior to Tuesday’s match Sierra Leone had been humiliated by a 4-0 loss to  South Africa at the FNB stadium on Saturday.

After a much better performance in the first half against DRC, they conceded three goals in four minutes.

Malenga Ngita Ben opened the scoring in the 70-minute before Kayembe Kayemba Edo doubled the Leopards’ lead in the 72nd minute. Elia Lina Meshak scored their third in the 74th minute to dismantle their West African counterparts.

Leone Stars in two international matches now conceded seven goals and both results have sparked widespread criticism among soccer fans as to the level of the technical team and some of the players not fit to put on the country’s Jersey as both matches are geared towards the African Cup of Nation (AFCON) qualifiers preparation for next year.
