LRMG Prioritises Community Safety

Road maintenance in progress Magburaka – Bumbuna highway

Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) has undertaken significant infrastructure improvements along the Magburaka – Bumbuna highway, a vital route for the surrounding residential communities.

Since August 5, LRMG has dedicated resources to ensure safer passage for vehicles and pedestrians, particularly during the challenging conditions of the rainy season over the past two weeks.

To address road blockages caused by the heavy rains, LRMG has mobilised an impressive fleet of over 10 trucks, along with 15 skilled operators and flaggers from Operation & Maintenance department. These teams have been actively deployed to tackle cut-off points across some critical areas around Maforayka and Matam villages, ensuring that both motorbikes and vehicles can traverse these routes without major disruptions. Understanding the seasonal impact on road conditions, the company has strategically used rocks from the nearby Kabira quarry to temporarily reinforce sections of the road that have suffered significant damage.

The company also wants to call to action for all stakeholders to recognize their role in maintaining vital infrastructure that serves the broader community, beyond just their operational needs.

LRMG’s commitment to community welfare extends beyond mere compliance. The company has made it a priority to work tirelessly on road temporary repairs throughout the rainy season and also plans to carry out more permanent repairs after the rainy season, ensuring that residents and travelers are not hindered by poor road conditions. Kamara’s assertion that “all of us have parts to play in getting the best for our people” highlights a collaborative approach to community safety and infrastructure sustainability.

Despite facing claims that may undermine their efforts, LRMG stands firm in its dedication to ethical and responsible mining practices. The company asserts that allegations against them are baseless and untrue, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and community engagement.
