Maiden edition of the Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League was an Expo revealing lots of talents

This season is going to be more interesting as teams have beefed up their strengths with signings from Europe and Africa with this year’s theme “Play the game, to make a career”.

Ahead of the 2024/2024 Women’s Football in Sierra Leone, the registration process commences in all the regions where the Premier League teams will be playing. An in-depth look at last season’s finishing of the league and how optimistic of winning this season’s league.

Champions Mogbwema Queens come from Rutile who also for the first time in the country’s female football history represented Sierra Leone in a CAF competition. The team hail from an area rich in mineral resources. Will they defend their title fiercely with all the efforts put in last season? Let’s wait and see!

What about Kahunla Queens from Kenema, the center of Diamond mining? Are they going to compete for the title this year? Big questions to which many female football fans and pundits are curious to know the answer. Especially after losing their two top strikers, Kumba Braima and Matilda Kabba, to Mogbwema Queens and FC Kallon, respectively.

Will the Police repeat their magical touch?

After beginning the league badly last season, they rose from the relegation zone to the third-place position after making critical changes that helped them to end in the top three places.

The astute Malema Queens hail from the great land of Cocoa Kailahun District. Are they going to compete for the trophy, or will they be content with the 4th position that they ended in last season?

Ram Kay FC is from the City of Life (Bo). With so many passionate young girls in their squad, are they really going to compete for the title with their new signees? Only the 2023/2024 league season will determine that.

The Cavalier Ladies Kallon FC female team in the Western Area ended up in 6th position in the Female Elite league. According to their management, they are in a learning process and so are bringing new signings into the club, including the 2022 highest goal scorer, Kumba Braima. Is that a pointer that they are eyeing the championship title?

Correctional Services FC is also from the Western Area. They took the 7th position in the 2022 league season. What are they bringing this time around?

Are the Queens from the Mena Hills in the northern part of Sierra Leone ready for this thrilling season? According to their management, they are ready.

From the northeast, a place that is known for its rich swamp and the smooth flowing Great Scarcies  River, come Patricia Humu FC. Are they eyeing the title, or will they want to maintain their presence in the league? Their performance will decide this season in the second edition of the SL Women’s Premier league.

Koya Queens from the Western Rural District ended last season in 10th position. Are they going to fight their way up? Let’s wait to see how it will unfold.

Victory FC, V.E.M Buck for short, maintained the 11th position last season with young girls who left the minds of football fans amazed by their outstanding performances. What are we expecting from them this season? V.E.M Buck will soon answer that when the second edition commences.
