Malmö FF part company with Buya Turay

Malmö FF has agreed with striker Mohamed Buya Turay to terminate the player’s contract with immediate effect.

The Sierra Leonean striker Mohamed Buya Turay joined Malmö FF in July 2022. During his time in MFF, the striker managed to score an Allsvenskan goal in ten games, as well as a goal in five games in qualifying and group games for the Europa League.

The reason why Malmö FF and Mohamed Buya Turay Part company was because of family issues, according to the club website.

According to Daniel Anderson, SPORTS Manager MFF, “Mohamed has been open with his feelings all the way and we have had a good dialogue together to try to resolve the situation. When it then dragged on, it finally became unsustainable for him, and he feels that he cannot perform here and needs to go home to his family. It is of course sad when it happens like this, but this is the best solution for everyone involved.”

In August 2019, Turay was called-up in the national team for the first time in almost over a year. He played in both legs of the World Cup Qualifying Round against Liberia, as Sierra Leone lost 3–2 on aggregate. The following year, Turay played in both matches against Nigeria, as the national team went on to drew 2–2 in the African Cup of Nations Qualifications.
