On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Mohamed Kabba appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1, facing two counts of possession and sale of prohibited drugs. The charges were brought under the National Drug Control Act of 2008 following the discovery of 50.5 grams of ‘kush’ in his possession at Masinbon, Regent Village, on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

In the first count, Kabba was charged with unlawful possession of prohibited drugs, contrary to Section 8(a) of the National Drug Control Act of 2008. The second count accused him of selling prohibited drugs without lawful authority, in violation of Section 7(c) of the same Act.

The prosecution alleged that Kabba was found selling kush without authorization on the specified date and location. Police Inspector Alusine Kamara, attached to the Lumley Police Division, testified as the lead investigator in the case. Kamara recounted receiving key evidence on May 22, 2024, from Detective Inspector Sonifu M., which included two sachets of loose kush, an old cutlass, a black briefcase, and 100 New Leones.

Kamara registered the items under serial number 37/2024 and presented them in court as exhibits F1 and F2. He informed the court that all the seized items had remained in police custody since their retrieval.

Defense counsel A. Bangura applied for bail for the accused, but Magistrate Kekura denied the request. The case was adjourned to February 13, 2025, for further hearing.
