The presiding Magistrate at the Ross Road Magistrate court No.3, Magistrate Hadiru Daboh has sentenced Alimamy Conteh to 59 months ii prison for conspiracy and larceny.
Magistrate Daboh said whilst delivering his Judgements that the quantum or value of what were stole doesn’t matter; “it is the act and the preservation of society that matter”.
It could be recalled that the accused Conteh was standing summary trial on two counts of Conspiracy, contrary to law and Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The Prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Woman Police Constable J. Bangura, in her efforts to proving the accused person’s guilt, brought three witnesses, two factual and one formal.
It was alleged that the accused in agreement with one Borboh (who succeeded to escape arrest) on October 28, 2021, at Mambaridge, Kissy in Freetown, stole from the Complainant f50 pieces of corrugated metal zinc sheets, all in the value of Le 1,500,000 (one million five hundred thousand Leones old notes).
The accused relied on his statement from the Police Station.
The accused was however, sentenced to 59 months in prison.
