Man Sentenced to Three Years for Theft at Judiciary

Abubakar Conteh, 26, has pleaded guilty to the charge of larceny when he made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road court No.2 in Freetown.

According to the particulars of the offence, the accused on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Law Court building on Siaka Steven Street in Freetown did steal one white Roch 12000 BTU Air conditioners (AC) pipes valued at Le15,525,00, property of the Judiciary of Sierra Leone.

The prosecutor Sergeant 9155 Dwight Macarthy and the Associating Counsel A. Mansaray, stated the fact as charge, adding that the accused has no previous criminal records.

 The representative of the Judiciary who is deputy assistant Registrar, Ibrahim Hindolo Katta was present in court.

The accused who was not represented by a lawyer pleaded with the magistrate to temper justice with mercy on his behalf.

Due to the plea in mitigation by the accused and being a first-time offender, he  was sentenced to three years in prison.
