Africell Sierra Leone on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, handed over the sum of NLe 250,000 to the winner of the ‘Win Kopo with Africell’ grand prize at a ceremony at the company headquarters in Freetown.
Explaining about the promotion, Africell Media Manager, John Konteh told journalists that WIN KOPO SMS trivia Promotions and WIN KOPO is a competition that allows Africell prepaid subscribers to collect points upon Every Recharge for a chance to win in a daily electronic draw.
He said that WIN KOPO can be played anywhere and at any time in Sierra Leone.
He said that there are two parts to the games: “As mentioned, Points are calculated from Every Recharge done by subscription before midnight. The more you Recharge, the more chances you have in the daily draw. For this, a daily electronic draw is done to select the lucky winner of NLe 250.”
He explained that “the second part is the SMS trivia, where questions are posed via SMS to participate, by Dialing *4888# or send START to 4888 from your line for NLe 0.80 or 80 africell nts daily.”
Joe Abass Bangura, Africell’s head of Corporate Affairs, said that the Winners from the SMS trivia will be announced weekly and monthly, adding that the grand prize winner will be announced every 6 months.
Subscriber or participant must have received at least one chance during the week and month leading to the weekly and monthly draws to qualify.
The participant also must have received one chance during the monthly draws to qualify for the grand draw.
However, A weekly cash prize of NLe5,000 (Le 5,000,000), NLe 25,000 (Le 25,000,000) monthly and a grand prize of NLe 250,000 (Le 250,000,000) are up for grab.
Abass Bangura disclosed that winnings to date: “So far, a total of 222 subscribers have won over Nle270,000 (Le 270,000,000) with WIN KOPO by simply recharging regularly and participating in the SMS trivia”.
Mohamed Sesay, who is NLe 250,000 rich today, said, “let me on behalf of the entire team here at Africell, congratulate you for winning KOPO with Africell. Indeed ‘NA U TEM DIS’(this is your time).”
Speaking to the winner, Mohamed, said he is a driver living at the east end of Freetown. “I have never registered for any promotion or sent messages to answer questions. “I was called several times but did not believe because we know so many scammers going around calling people questing for money, so I did not believe not until I have a pastor who agreed to accompany me to the headquarters after I shared with him what was going through,” he said.
“I normally exchanged NLE 5, and above. I am very happy and excited to have won the first promotion this year, and I will use the money to finish my project,” he said
