Sierra Loene’s President Dr Julius Maada Bio on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, received Ambassador Simeon Moriba, who is paying a courtesy call as the new Secretary General of the Mano River Union after his appointment recently received approval from all member Heads of State.
Ambassador Moriba expressed gratitude to President Bio for approving his appointment and for hosting their headquarters in Freetown, noting that the Union was established through the efforts of Sierra Leone and Liberia.
He also commended Sierra Leone for being the only member state that was up-to-date with its contributions for 2024.
“We want to express our heartfelt congratulations to you, sir, on your achievements and thank you for your support, which has greatly helped the operations of the secretariat,” he said.
In his brief remarks, President Bio welcomed Ambassador Moriba and his team on behalf of his government and people of Sierra Leone and pledged his government’s continued support to the Union.
