Napoleon Launches Diamond Fund Projects in Kono

The Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources Umaru Napoleon Koroma alongside his counterpart at the Ministry of Local Government Alfred Jamiru were in Kono District earlier on Friday, August 31, 2024,

to launch projects funded with proceeds from mining activities in the district. The Diamond Area Community Development Fund (DACDF) has been hailed as a novelty and a more practical approach to ensuring citizens benefit from their God-given resources.

Deputy Minister Napoleon Koroma who has remained a prominent advocate for citizens to have a larger share of their mineral proceeds, said he was pleased to see that a critical component of President Julius Maada Bio’s development agenda is being rolled out transparently to benefit ordinary citizens.

“Our minerals are given to us by God and as a government we believe there’s no better way to serve our people than to ensure that they directly benefit what is given to them by God….and President Bio being an all-caring president has instructed that we execute this project with all the seriousness it deserves..,” he said.

A team from the National Communications Authority (NatCA) lead by the dynamic and astute Director General Mr. Amara Brewah were in Guinea Conakry over the weekend to firm up the MoU on the interconnection between Guinea and Sierra Leone for Internet redundant route (backup/ alternative route) through the terrestrial fiber backbone…

This will enhance Internet connectivity backing up the subsea cable ACE cable managed by the infrastructure company Zoodlabs…

The Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources also emphasized to community leaders the judicious use of the resources given to them and said the Government would aefficiently monitor the implementation of these development projects.
