The National Telecommunications Authority, NatCA, has given Orange SL seven days to resolve issues over poor network otherwise it will invoke certain provisions of the National Communications Authority Act, 2022, against telecom operator.
This came following public complaints about network outages, call drops, and delays in restoring services which resulted in disruption in businesses and personal communications.
NaTCA has made clear that if Orange SL fails to address these disruptions within the deadline, strict measures under the NaTCA Act will be enforced to ensure compliance.
Orange SL has said in a statement recently that all its network sites have been swapped, and now have additional 4G technology across the country.
It said in the statement that the optimization of all network sites is currently ongoing nationwide, including the upgrade of our transmission links.
“There may be an impact on customer experience during the optimization. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are committed to improving our network resilience and availability,” Orange said in the statement.
