The National Centre of Vocational Studies (NCVS) on Friday, July 22,2022 held its first leavers service at the Dr. S.M. Broderick school in Freetown.
Since NCVS was established in 1983, the institution has trained thousands of young women who are gainfully employed in Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) and other private institutions. It has been very instrumental in providing the middle level manpower in Sierra Leone.
The institution is offering courses in Business, Secretarial and Computer Studies.
The Principal of NCVS, Mariama Jabbie said that the those that will be leaving the institution have been well trained and are qualify for the present job market. She called on public and private offices to accept them when they seek job experience.
She said that even though the administration of the institution is facing financial constraint they were able to organize the first ever leavers service.
“The school has been struggling with accommodation and financial which has watered down the student admission into the institution,” she said.
As always emphasized, she said, the Centre is a government assisted institution, but they are not receiving enough financial support from government which they dearly needed.
An old student, Isatu Ballay Kargbo encouraged the leavers to be hopeful and hardworking, adding that they should not cease to learn but rather continue their pursuit for education.
She said that challenges would come but they should always believe in God Almighty as referenced in their theme: “I can do all things through Christ that Strengthen Me- (Philippians 4:13)”.
