The Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai is to deliver a public lecture at the University of Namibia on Sports Law, Governance, and Reforms in Africa on September 16, 2024, according to a statement from NSA.
The lecture will take into cognizance topical legal, and governance matters that influence the decision-making process in the sports sector. The NSA Boss will shed light on critical aspects of the reforms to address public concerns about sports participation.
The event will mark Dr. Abdulai’s first international public lecture since assuming the NSA leadership.
The University of Namibia has described him as ‘a visionary leader spearheading the promotion, development, and coordination of sports across the continent.’
“His conviction extends to the realm of sports as a unifying force in the political landscape, serving as a potent tool for fostering national cohesion and bridging societal divides,” read a release from the Marketing, Logistics, and Sport Management Department, University of Namibia.
Two months ago, Dr. Saffa Abdulai co-opted 10 law graduate volunteers to assist the NSA in drafting legal instruments that will see a boom in sports law, attitudinal and behavioral reforms, and ethics in sports. This endeavour accounted for the birth of sports law in the concept of sports in Sierra Leone.
The National Sports Authority is an agency of government established by an Act of Parliament with the mandate to promote, encourage, develop, and supervise all sports and sporting activities in Sierra Leone and to provide for other related matters.
