NSA Promotes Gender Parity as Three Females Depart for China

Three female staff members of NSA recommended by Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai to the Chinese Embassy in Freetown, through the Ministry of Sports, departed the shores of Sierra Leone to participate in a two-week anti-doping capacity building programme in China.

The empowerment programme was solicited from the Chinese Embassy in Freetown through the effort of the Minister of Sports Madam Augusta James-Teima. The endeavour is geared towards promoting gender parity in the sports sector.

The beneficiaries include Madam Abigail Sahid, Admin Officer; Cecelia Kainesse, Secretary to the Authority; Hannah Mannah, Secretary; and Alfred Terry Deputy I.T Officer

Dr Abdulai’s dedication to seeing the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Act 2022, being rolled out in sports aligns with the need to broaden the campaign, pushing for President Bio’s call to offer a 30% quota to women regarding employment, training and the improving of their access and participation in financial institutions and decision-making positions.

Speaking before the departure of the trio, Dr Abdulai said: “This is the beginning of what has been missing at the Agency. Under my leadership, every staff member will be exposed to different capacity-building opportunities nationally as well as internationally. ”
