Police Inspector Tenders Charge Statement against Fake Police Officer

Police Inspector Kai Solomon Brewa has on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 tendered the charged statements of one Julius Batilo Condoh  who was allegedly caught personating as a police inspector along Aberdeen Road junction and Wilkinson Road.

The accused Batilo Condoh who appeared   before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.3, is charged with a count of personation contrary to section 3 of CAP 34 as amended by Sub section 4 and 5 of The Personation and Uniform Amended Act 13 of 1973

According to the particulars of the offence, the accused on Monday, July 17, 2023 along Aberdeen Road Junction and Wilkinson Road in Freetown, under that assumed character, was found in full police uniform without lawful authority.

The prosecution witness number two, Inspector Kai Solomon Brewa, led in evidence by Sergeant 9155 Dwight Macarthy, said he is attached to the Criminal Investigation Department, Congo Cross police station.

He recalled on July 17, 2023, he was at the police station when the complainant arrested and brought in the accused person with police uniform with a rank of inspector for a case of personation.

 The matter, he said, was allocated to him for further investigation. He told the court that he obtained statements from the complainant and her witnesses.

He said that on July 17, 2023, himself together with Inspector K. Kallon obtained statement from the accused.

His statement was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court record.

According to the witness,  on July 18,2023 he finally charged the accused with the offence of personation.

The charge statement was produced and tendered in court to form part of the evidence.

The accused, who was not represented by a lawyer, cross-examined the witness. Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused to the Male Correctional Center.  The matter was  adjourned to September 26, 2023 for further hearing.
