A 19-year-old Abibatu Bah on Friday, May 27, 2022 made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on two counts of felony and Larceny contrary to law.
According to the particulars of the offence, on February 5, 2022 at Roy Hotel, room 102, Lumley Beach Road, Aberdeen in Freetown conspired with other persons unknown to commit larceny, while on count two on the same date and place did steal one Iphone 13 Pro Max mobile phone bearing International mobile equipment identification number (IMEI,355908662563068), and other items valued sixty four million two hundred and three thousand Leones (64,203,000) property of one Sam Ghamloush.
Prosecution witness number three, DPC 13105 Abdulai Dumbuya attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters on Pademba Road in Freetown, told the court that he knew the complainant in this matter and recognized the accused.
He said on February 12, 2022 whilst on duties at the said Headquarter, the complainant made a report and the matter was allocated to him for investigation. He said that on the same date, they visited the crime scene at room 102 Roy’s Hotel, Lumley beach Road. He said that himself together with Inspector Mohamed Lamin Sesay observed that the room of the complainant was scattered, and the complainant identified the area which the missing items was. He said on March 3, 2022, DPC 19012 Mohamed Bangura attached to the Aberdeen Police Station arrested and brought in the accused who was later identified by the complainant.
The witness said on the same date he obtained statement from the accused.
At this juncture the charge statement was produce and tendered in court and marked as exhibit A1-10.
He furthered that on March3, 2022, a search warrant was conducted at the premises of the accused, adding that during that time the accused identified five dresses she bought from the stolen money. The dresses were treated as exhibit. They were produced and tendered in court and marked as exhibit B1-2.
On March 8, 2022, the accused was charged with the offence of Larceny. The charge statement was produced and tendered in court and marked as exhibit C1-2.
The matter was adjourned to June 6, 2022, for further hearing.
