President Julius Maada Bio has expressed optimism that sport is on the march toward onward growth in Sierra Leone, citing his unprecedented investment in the industry, the National Sports Authority (NSA) said in statement on Friday.
The president made this remark during the inaugural Salone Civic Festival on December 11, 2024, in the presence of officials from the Sport Ministry, the National Sports Authority, NSA, coaches, athletes, and sports administrators.
At the Sport booth, President Bio praised the concerted efforts of the Ministry and the NSA in their ambition to transform the nation’s sports landscape, underscoring the integral role of sports in embellishing national pride, unity, and international recognition. He urged all stakeholders in the industry to continue the hard work.
“I am overwhelmed with your achievements over the years. With the substantial number of medals, trophies, and other accolades displayed today. There is an undeniable optimism surrounding sports in the country,” he told sports officials.
As the nation looks ahead, the MOS and NSA remain committed to pursuing initiatives that will further elevate the status of sports in Sierra Leone, ensuring that young athletes have the resources and support they need to excel.
