Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Prince Vandy Sualley, President of the National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (NOC/CGA-SLE), has been appointed as the Chairman of the Fund Raising Committee for the sixth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games. The games will be held from August 6-15, 2025, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
During the 13th General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA), held in Tirana, Albania, in December 2024, Prince Sualley was selected to lead the Fund Raising Committee. The NOC President affirmed his commitment, stating, “I am working directly with His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, President of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association.”
The ISSA, which comprises 57 member states, approved strategic objectives to guide the future of the sports movement within member countries. These decisions followed three days of collaborative discussions during the ISSA Session in Tirana, Albania. Chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the session was praised for its significant achievements.
Representatives from the National Olympic Committees of member states, along with prominent figures from the Olympic Movement, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and non-governmental organizations, participated in the event. The session included a Board of Directors workshop on December 16, followed by thematic sessions on December 17, providing opportunities for ISSA members to contribute to the organization’s future.
Four strategic goals were presented: promoting sports as a key driver of social and economic impact, strengthening athlete pathways and event hosting capabilities, harnessing knowledge and innovation, and ensuring cultural needs are recognized by all stakeholders. The thematic sessions featured panel discussions with high-profile speakers and interactive question-and-answer opportunities.
These goals will guide the ISSA in advancing sport development across its member countries, unlocking its full potential as a united sports community. Supporting programs to achieve these objectives were also introduced.
A dedicated workshop on the Islamic Solidarity Games Riyadh 2025 highlighted the event’s significance. The 6th edition marks a return to Saudi Arabia, which hosted the inaugural event in 2005. The games aim to set new standards in showcasing peace and enabling athletes to thrive.
The final day of the ISSA Session included the 41st ISSA Board of Directors meeting, where strategic goals were approved, and the ISSA’s role in delivering them was affirmed. The 13th ISSA General Assembly formally adopted these goals and established a collective commitment to advancing sports development across the 57 member nations.
