Makeni, Sierra Leone – Rising cultural artist Princess Kandeh has successfully launched her much-anticipated album, Ba Mi Laneh, in a spectacular event held on April 12, 2025, at the RC Primary School in the Masongbo community. Organized in collaboration with Masongbo Youth, the launch turned into a vibrant celebration of Sierra Leonean culture, music, and empowerment.

Princess Kandeh, known for her energetic stage presence and powerful vocals, captivated the audience with her unique blend of traditional rhythms and modern sounds. Music lovers from across the region attended the event, highlighting the strong community support she enjoys.

The night featured electrifying performances from cultural troupes, deep storytelling, and dynamic musical expressions. The tagline “Or nekray nekray ka kalthenne”—translated as “to believe in God”—added authenticity and cultural depth, reaffirming the artist’s connection to her heritage.

Speaking to Premier News following the launch, Princess Kandeh shared insights into the album’s vision and message. The eight-track project serves as both entertainment and a platform for empowerment—especially for women and young people. One standout song warns women about deceptive relationships, urging them to value themselves. “Some men can fool you and then forget about you. I want to help women make wise choices,” she explained.

Another track promotes humility and spiritual reflection. “This world is not ours. No matter what you have, it is God who knows tomorrow,” Princess Kandeh stated, stressing the importance of compassion and self-awareness.

With more than six music videos already released, Ba Mi Laneh—which means “believe in oneself”—marks a major milestone in her journey as a cultural ambassador. “I believe in my craft, and I believe in culture. I will continue promoting it through music as long as I live,” she affirmed.

Princess Kandeh also highlighted the need for public and institutional support. “We, as cultural artists, need encouragement and investment to grow. Cultural music is not just entertainment—it’s a powerful tool for education and social change,” she emphasized.

The Ba Mi Laneh album not only signals a new chapter in Princess Kandeh’s career but also reinforces the role of music in shaping identity, fostering cultural pride, and driving positive transformation in Sierra Leone.
