In Sierra Leone, ‘Kush’ (K2) has got out of control, and its widespread abuse is endangering the physical and mental health as well as threatening the future of those of who usually take the drugs.
It is against this background that Alhajie Amadu Bah aka LAJ, a famous local rapper, has collaborated with other inmates artists like Nelly P, Boss P, Ash Armani, and Ouzee Paice to soon release an enlightening song, ‘Kush’.
According to LAJ, though they are living in unfriendly environments, the love for their country won’t allow them to sit back in prison without sending their contributions to the nation.
He said that the song outlines a comprehensive sensitization campaign aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of Kush and promoting a healthier lifestyle among young people. He explained, “The popularity of Kush drugs is growing, especially among our youth, but it is crucial to understand the following hidden dangers the drugs bring. Kush drugs can have serious consequences for our physical and mental health. Its prolonged use can lead to addiction, impaired memory, concentration issues, and even long-term cognitive damage and the pursuit of education. “Kush can hamper our ability to focus, learn, and perform well; jeopardizing our prospects; our families and communities are the backbone of Sierra Leone. Kush drug use can strain relationships, lead to conflicts, and isolate individuals from their loved ones and engaging with Kush drugs can put you on the wrong side of the law. Possession and distribution of these substances are illegal in Sierra Leone, leading to potential legal troubles and a tarnished reputation,” he said.
The rapper called on all entertainers to join the government to fight against Kush in Sierra Leone.
He said that it is their civil responsibilities as entertainers to complement the efforts of the state institutions in campaign against Kush. He stressed, “I am also calling on all entertainers to join the government of Sierra Leone in the fight against Kush. We should all come together to help save lives and save the future generations. Those individuals who are bringing and distributing the drugs should stop forthwith as it is causing a lot of mayhem.”
“Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to the Sierra Leone Correctional Service authorities for granting me the opportunity to do the sensitization campaign song,” he concluded.
