S/L Entertainment Industry Mourns Death of Mos-B

Sierra Leone Entertainment Industry on Saturday, October 21, 2023, mourned the death of Joseph Amos Bangura popularly known as Mos-B, a popular Sierra Leonean musician based in France.

Mos-B, who is a multiple-award-winning musician, reportedly died of heart attack on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in France.

His death sent shockwaves through the music industry and among his followers who were heartbroken on hearing his passing.

The deceased, who was born in Tonko Limba chiefdom in Kambia district,  northern Sierra Leone, started his singing career at a very young age after being motivated by his mother.

Due to his creativity as a musician, the late Mos-B did receive several awards. In 2019, he received the Fanea Award for Best Diaspora. In that same year, he was awarded by Sierra Liberty Award as Sierra Leone’s Versatile Artist of the Year.

In 2019, he bagged the SLAAM Award in the USA for the best cultural song, ‘Back to My Roots and Culture.’ The deceased in 2020 was awarded by New School Awards (NSA) as Best Diaspora Artist.  

Mos-B also attained a historic landmark by being the first global artist to record an awareness campaign song for COVID-19. That song rapidly gained widespread acknowledgment on major media outlets, including the BBC radio. That song brought him another award, ‘Humanitarian African Artistee of the Year 2021, an award organized by the Global Music Awards Africa 2021 in Ghana.

To create unity among nations across the world, the late man organized an event titled, ‘Sing4Africa’, in which he featured singers from over 10 countries across the globe. He told this medium in one his interviews, “My main motive of creating Sing4Africa is to see that unity is created among nations regardless of the colors, race, among others.” 

On the different social media platforms, his fellow musicians, followers and fans shared their condolences for the late man.

Fynface, a popular local musician on Facebook posted, “If you are not strong, and you decided to walk with the truth, they will definitely come at you. This is how bad it is. People always forget this saying, ‘Not all that litters is Gold’. People like us will speak up about how we feel but some other people will keep it inside and die with the pain.
