A Zonal Beach Volleyball Championships over the weekend ended in Gambia with Sierra Leone having a podium finish for both genders.
According to Sorie Kamara Competition Director at the National Beach Volleyball Federation Sierra Leone that Earlier in the day Sierra Leone’s male team failed in their quest for Gold as they lost to the pair of Nyabally and Mario by two sets to one (21:17, 15:21, 15:13).
After the result Sierra Leone’s next option was to dig for bronze in their third-place match with Senegal where they thrashed the Senegalese by two sets to zero earning bronze.
The highlights of the tournament were the female duo of Maria/Binta. They Played four matches and Won all four including the finals in which they beat Senegal by two sets to zero ( 21:15, 21:15).
Mr. Kamara told the medium that Medals and trophies were presented to both genders and Sierra Leone would take the arduous three-day journey home with their medals and the coveted trophy.
It could be recalled that this is not the first time Sierra Leone beach volleyball has been bringing lurels to the Country, adding that the next step is for the National Indoor Club Championships to be held in Freetown in November.
