Abubakar Bah, a sales manager at NP SL Kailahun, was on Thursday, October 26, 2023 sent on remand by Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba road court No.1 on allegation of theft of over US$ 3500 and some liters of fuel.
The accused was arraigned on four counts, including conspiracy to defraud contrary to law and embezzlement contrary to section 17 (b) of The Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence on count one, the accused on a date unknown around 1st July 2023 at No.20 Nyeama Street, Daru Town in the Jawie Chiefdom, Kailahun District in the Eastern province, with intent to defraud, conspired together with other persons unknown and defrauded Sara Bailor Jalloh the sum of six hundred and eighteen thousand new Leones (NLE 618,225) and the sum of US$3,500 (Nle85,750).
It was further alleged on count two that, the accused on the above date and place embezzled the sum of three thousand five hundred United States dollars received by him for Sara Bailor Jalloh.
The police also alleged on count three that, the accused on a date between 1st and 30th March 2023, fraudulently embezzled 150 liters of diesel received by him for and on account of Sara Bailor Jalloh.
Whiles count four added that the accused on the same date fraudulently embezzled 10,000 received by him for Sara Bailor Jalloh
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, no plea taken.
Counsel representing the accused person Mohamed Wurie Bah Esq. made an application for bail on behalf of the accused pursuant to section 79 (2 ) of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
Magistrate Ngegba, however, refused to admit the accused on bail.
The matter was adjourned to November 3, 2023.
