SALWACO MD Assesses Progress on Six Towns Water Supply Project

The Managing Director of the Sierra Leone Water Company, Ing. George Lamin Vandi together with the Project Management team has concluded a critical supervision visit to Kambia, Magburaka and Kabala water supply project sites under the Six Towns Water Supply Project.

This is to ensure that the Six Towns Water Supply Project is completed in recorded time.

The supervision mission is to assess progress made so far and to also assess ongoing work done by the contractors.

 Speaking during the Supervision, the Managing Director, Ing. George Lamin Vandi called on the consultants and contractors to deliver in respect of the project documents.

“SALWACO cannot deliver this project without the Consultants.Similarly the consultants cannot deliver without the Contractors,  and that no one can deliver with the absence of all that are involved in the project. “Therefore, as Management we are making sure that everyone performs their functions as per contract,” he said.

Ing. Vandi said as Management, they are making sure that things are done in the right way, and that they are going to work with the same voice so that the agenda of President Bio in providing water to the people in the provinces could be achieved.

He also called on the project team together with the Consultants and Contractors to create a communications scheme so they can communicate and address issues relating to the project.

SALWACO MD also called on contractors to speak frankly and feel free to say whatever problems they are facing in implementing the project, adding that nobody could claim monopoly over knowledge.

In his part, Director- Project Management, Ing. YankubaJusuTarawallie told all the contractors that they are going to write a strong warning letter to them to avert any delay in the implementation of the project.

He called on the contractors to increase the staff strength to finish the project in recorded time. It could be recalled that, the Six Towns Water Supply Project is a government funded project under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio.
