Samura Kamara’s Case:  Defense Counsel Calls for Speedy Trial

Defence counsel, Lawyer JF Kamara has called on the trial Judge, Justice Adrian Fisher to ensure a speedy trial on the ongoing Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) hearing involving Samura Kamara and three others.

He made this call on Monday, March 28, 2022. He said though the 1st prosecution witness Noah was sick that should not stop the hearing from proceeding. He said that they should not allow loopholes to be broadened and open room for malpractice.

Lawyer JF Kamara said that the prosecution, ACC has a long list of witnesses, and if one of them is not coming the issue must be identified, and should not stop them from proceeding.

He urged the prosecution to provide them with the list of witnesses as they intend to call them in the subsequent days.

Lead Prosecution Lawyer C. Matsebo noted that his witness Mr. Noah will soon be available in court after he was cautioned by the Justice Fisher to make available witnesses.

Prior to that, Justice Adrian Fisher dismissed application  made by lawyer Ady Macauley to adduce and tender a secondary photocopy document  in evidence on behalf of the forth accused, Dr Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, after an objection raised by ACC Counsel Calvin Matesbo.

The matter was adjourned to Friday, April 1, 2022 as the defence counsel is expected to continue his cross-examination of the 1st prosecution witness.
