Security Guard Remanded for Theft at IPAM

Abdul Rahman Bayoh, a security guard, was on Friday, November 11, 2022 sent to prison by  Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba road court No.1 over an alleged theft of cement bricks at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM).

The accused who made his first appearance in court was arraigned on one count charge of Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, on a date between 1st September to 5th October 2022 at the institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) site at Bureh Town in the Western Area Rural District did steal 7, 500 hollow cement blocks valued at Le 297,000 (New Leone), property of IPAM whilst in custody of Adetola Otufowora.

The charge was read and explained to the accused, and he pleaded not guilty 

The prosecutor APS I. S Mansaray informed the court that his witnesses were absent and therefore could not proceed with the matter, in the circumstance seek for an adjournment to subpoena them.

 Counsel representing the accused person A.R Kargbo applied for bail on behalf of the accused pursuant to section 79 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965.

 Magistrate Ngegba however, refused bail on the grounds that he wants to hear the evidence.  The matter was adjourned to November 18, 2022. Assistant Superintendent of Police Ibrahim S. Mansaray is Prosecuting the matter.
