Under the guidance of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation and the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority; Westminster Aviation Security Services and SUMMA Airports Limited on April 25, 2023 signed an agreement for the provision of Aviation Security Services at Freetown International Airport (FNA).
Both parties look forward to a fruitful working relationship and will join forces to ensure that FNA continues to excel in line with the standards and recommended practices stipulated by the International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO).
The ultra-modern airport was commissioned by the government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) and SUMMA Airports limited on March 3, 2023. The event was witnessed by various state dignitaries, representatives from ICAO and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). SUMMA Airports Limited had invested US$270 million on this project on a Build Operate and Transfer basis fulfilling one of the strategic flagship projects of the Government.
The facilities include a new passenger terminal, a new VIP/presidential terminal, a new air traffic control tower, a new cargo terminal, a new search and rescue/fire fighting facility, a new car park, the restructuring and resurfacing of the existing runway, a new fuel farm and the establishment of a 1.5 megawatts solar farm.
