The Sierra Leone National Under-20 Football Team (Shooting Stars) has kicked off its preparations for the upcoming U20 Zonal Tournament, slated to take place in Monrovia, Liberia. The team officially commenced training today, assembling a formidable 26-man squad eager to showcase their talent on the regional stage.
Scheduled from Saturday the 17th to Sunday the 25th of February, 2024, the tournament promises to be an electrifying display of youth football prowess. With fierce competition expected from their Liberian counterparts, Sierra Leone’s U20 team is leaving no stone unturned in their quest for victory.
Training got underway on the state-of-the-art artificial turf pitch at the Sierra Leone Football Association playing ground. The newly installed surface provides an ideal environment for honing skills and fostering team cohesion ahead of the rigorous competition.
Under the guidance of experienced coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara and his support staff, support from SLFA’s Youth Football Coordinator- Alimamy Kurash Conteh, the young talents are undergoing intensive training sessions, focusing on tactical strategies, physical conditioning, and technical proficiency. With a blend of seasoned players and promising prospects, the squad is determined to make a strong impression and vie for top honors at the tournament.
