Sierra Leone: Alvette International School observes 5th anniversary

The Alvette International Junior Secondary School in Kissy in the east of Freetown has on Sunday December 13, 2020, observed its 5th anniversary.

Arthur Williams, the Principal of the school, said that the cerebration was aimed at giving praises to God for keeping them in the educational sector.

He said that many people have passed away in the past years but God has speared them from the difficulties and helped them to keep on impacting knowledge in the lives of people in the community.

During the celebration, students of the school performed songs like: ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’, ‘While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks’, ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’, and the ‘First Noel’ and many more.

He explained that the school was founded in 2000 by his father Alfred Benjamin Williams (now deceased) to provide nursery and primary education.

Williams said that in the east by then schools that provided quality education were expensive and not everyone could afford taking their kid to those schools. He added that to break that barrier, his father decided to establish Alvette in order to accommodate children from less privileged families.

He said that to accomplish his father’s mission, he then extended the school from Primary to JSS 3.

He said that the school has produced pupils who are now lawyers, bankers, and doctors. “We have done a lot in the Kissy community and we look forward to doing more,” he said.
