Sierra Leone: Charity feeds the physically challenged and bike riders

Happiness Foundation, a humanitarian organization founded by Prophetess Happy Abba, a Sierra Leonean philanthropist based in the United States of America, partnered with Youth Educative Network and   on Saturday fed some bike riders and physically challenged persons at Congo Market and Pa Demba Road in Freetown.

Emmanuel Patrick Robert, the Country Representative for Happiness Foundation Sierra Leone Chapter and Director of Youth Educative Network, said that as a humanitarian organization, their visions are to inspire hope in and show compassion to young people and vulnerable people society.

He expressed delight in being part of the feeding exercise, adding that it  was the second feeding program that Prophetess Happy Abba and her team  has sponsored. “Our first feeding program was on the 13 August, 2020, and we were able to cater for 300 beneficiaries including, disabled, the needy, and the orphans at the Varieties Children’s home at Kingtom and Cotton Tree,” he explained

He said that Sierra Leone is likely to benefit some more in the near future from the foundation and other empowerment programs through the support from Abba and team in United States of America.

He also stated that Philip and his wife Henrietta Roberts based in Sweden are behind the feeding program, through a recommendation they made on behalf of Youth Educative Network (YEN) to Prophetess Happy Abba.

Lamin Sesay, a man in physical challenge, who benefited from the feeding, said that he was happy to receive the food and drinks from the organization.

“I am grateful for what Happiness Foundation has done for us today, because we were not expecting such a wonderful surprise,” he said.

Sesay said that, he usually supports his family through Basic electronic skills he has learned, which has set him apart from those of his colleagues who beg on the street. He appealed to the NGOs, humanitarian organization and the government to help them with a vocational training centre where they could be trained in life supporting skills which would keep them from begging in the streets.

The chairlady at the home for the physically challenged, Esther Kallon said she was very happy to receive the foods on behalf of her colleagues, adding: “We are 46 in this village; some have gone on the streets to beg for their daily bread. I thank the foundation and may the Lord bless them, as they remember to feed us today, may the Lord multiply their blessings in thousand folds.”
