Gibrill Aruna Kargbo aka Coco Rhymes, a local musician, singer and song writer, has said on Tuesday October 7,2020 that, he is set to release a single titled ‘Slow Poison’ on his birthday -November 10.
Rhymes said that the song describes the feeling which one has when one has found a partner you feel passionate about.
“The song talks about love and lovers. There are certain feelings one should never be able to stand neither resist. You would be enough to be yourself, but when it comes to real feeling, you never be who you used to be,” he said. He said he featured Succulent, another star in Sierra Leone.
Kargbo said that he started his career as a musician in 2015, after having been inspired by his friends and relations who observed that he had a melodious voice and motivated him to pursue a career in music. He added that he got much of his motivation from his grandfather who had been a musician, who used to play the Condi, a string instrument made with a length of wood fitted to a gourd holding a string which runs from the gourd to the tip of the length of wood.
“I was really inspired by my grandfather’s good works.”
Kargbo sings different genres of music like Afro and Rnb, and he produces songs that inspire and enlighten the youth and people around.
Some of his songs are titled ‘U Mama Know’, which sheds light on drug abuse by young people in the country, and it was a big hit. Others are ‘One Fine Day’, ‘Woman Nor to Man Padi’, ’Booty Bag’, ‘U Dae Witch’, and many more. “Recently we have released a sensitization song on the Coronavirus, which is to educate and sensitize people on how to prevent themselves from having the Coronavirus. He further stated that he has featured other Sierra Leonean musicians like Star Zero in a song titled ‘Na Malice’, Bed & Strokes in a song titled ‘U Mama Know’, and Succulent in a song titled ‘slow poison’.
