The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education has in a statement issued on Wednesday July 22, 2020, announced that universities and colleges will recommence for the Second Semester of the 2019/2020 academic session across Sierra Leone on Saturday July 25, 2020.
The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education and the Conference of Vice-Chancellors & Principals of Higher Institutions agreed on the recommencement after doing same on a broad framework of activities for the rest of the current academic session.
The National Covid-19 Emergency Response Centre has also outlined guidelines against the risk of further spread of the Covid-19, which the Ministry and District CoVID-19 Emergency Response Centre (DicOVERC) will jointly supervise to ensure safety.
The Covid-19 prevention measures will be announced to the public shortly.
It could be recalled that some students in colleges and universities and Technical Vocational Institutions were unable to finish their first semester exams due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus within the country before authorities of the University decided to close down.
Sierra Leone shut down schools on March 31, after the country recorded its index case of Covid-19. As of Tuesday July 21, 2020, the country had recorded 1,727 confirmed Covid-19 cases.
