Sierra Leone: Double King to release new Song

David Solomon Koroma aka Double King, a local musician, has on Monday January 10, 2021 said that he will soon release a new song titled ‘Blessing’.

He informed Premier News in an interview that, the song encourages people to have faith in God and be prayerful. “In different ways we all need God’s blessings in our lives: in our finances, our health, our family, in our work places and many other areas. The song is a form of prayer to God, telling Him that He is the only one that we should depended on. Men will fail his fellow men. Science will fail man, but God is there to answer us and will never fail us.”

He said he does Gumbe-Fusion as his genre of music, adding, “I want to play music that will tell people that this is a Sierra Leonean made song when they listen to it. I want to contribute to the music industry by playing my own style, so I decided to choose Gumbe-Fusion. I want to do something that will represent me and represent Sierra Leone across the Globe.”

Double King is a multi-talented musician, with many songs so far: ‘Mama Loving,’ ‘Take my Hand,’ ‘Gumbe Dance’ and ‘Stay Safe,’ etc. He is an Instrumentalist who plays the piano, keyboard, organ and drums.

He explained that his music career started in Church where he served as a chorister. He added that to broaden his knowledge in music, he applied and gained admission into the Ballanta Academy of Music in 2020, and was sponsored by his church to learn the Organ.

He revealed that he was inspired by Dr. Kitty Fadlu Deen, Mr. Lesily Cummings, Christopher James and others tutors at the Academy who  influenced him to consider music as a profession.

“I never knew that I would take music as a profession until when I started a course in at Ballanta. People at the Academy always accommodated me, they corrected me whenever I did something wrong and made me acknowledge and learn from my mistakes. The care which Ballanta showed to me made me enjoy music and I decided to take it as a profession.”
