Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has offered scholarships to African students including engineering students from Sierra Leone who aim to pursue attain Master of Science (M.Sc.) degrees for the 2021 academic year.
The eligibility criteria is that applicants should be researchers or instructors (or potentially expected to become one) from a university or research institutions in Africa. The scholarship covers tuition fees, flight tickets, accommodation, and medical insurance and monthly stipends. Interested candidates can apply through E-JUSTs online application system or visit www.ejust.edu.eg. Online application is open from December 31, 2020 till February 13, 2021.
The Sierra Leonean Ambassador to Egypt, Morie Fofana welcomed the four- man delegation from E-JUST and JICA at his embassy in Cairo. He added that during their discussion held they did a brief familiarization talk about the University before he was presented with the available scholarships.
He added that they discussed methods to enhance further bilateral cooperation in the area of culture and education between the two countries.
Ambassador Fofana said that the scholarship opportunity is timely because the current Government of Sierra Leone’s flagship program is Education.
The Project Coordinator of Education Policy at the E-JUST University, Miyake Chiho admonished research students to grab the opportunity, adding that going forward the University would treasure the opportunity to affiliate with universities in Sierra Leone.
She cited that E-JUST strives to strengthen the bilateral relations between Egypt and Sierra Leone, noting that services would be provided for students at their disposal.
An Associate Professor of Liberal Arts and Culture at E-JUST university, Maali fouad said that E-JUST and JICA has strong relationship, and that they have proven their strength by supporting universities; providing laboratory equipment and rendering assistance to Egyptian professors and engineers.
She added that their objective is to foster relationships with African Universities and research institutions in order to contribute in the establishment of science, technology and innovation (STI) in Africa.
She added that the E-JUST University is based in Alexandria, Egypt and offers graduate and Post Graduate programs in Accounting and Information Technology, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Investment and Finance, Marketing and International Businesses.
Applicable programs for scholarships are available in the Faculty of Engineering including electronics and communication, computer science, material science, chemical and petrochemical, industrial engineering and systems management, electrical power, mechatronics and robotics, energy resource and environmental engineering.
