Sierra Leone Female referee appointed to officiate in FIFA internationals

Precious Amara, a local referee, has been appointed to officiate in FIFA international matches in 2021. Amara is a former short-distance runner. She is the NSA’S Regional Sports Development Officer North-West.

Precious is now the first female Sierra Leonean to be appointed as FIFA referee in recent time since the last batch in the year 1999.

She has been in several referee trainings which helped her greatly and she was among the female referees with the best grades during the MA Training where four female referees’ participated in training for referees.

Because of her good performances in both of SLFA/FIFA Member Association Courses organized by the Sierra Leone Football Association, steered by an expert from FIFA Amara was named as one of the referees for possible FIFA  appointment in  during the 2019/2020 Sierra Leone.

Now that she has been appointed to be a FIFA referee it means that she will be representing Sierra Leone in international tournaments as a referee.

Speaking to Precious she expressed delight over her appointment and thanked the Sierra Leone Football Association and Madam Isha Johansen for striving towards greatness for female referees in Sierra Leone.

“I know more success is ahead of us and this will be an inspiration to other female referees whom I trust can do the work very well,” She promised.
