The Deputy Minister of Finance Patricia Lavalie together with other government officials including the councilor of WARD 323 Mohamed Mansaray AKA D’Guy, on Saturday September 5, 2020 at Goderich launched a project to construct a road within Goderich Community in Freetown.
The Goderich township road project would cover 1.35km and it is estimated at US$3.4 million.
The launching of the project was attended by community stakeholders.
Speaking to Premier Newspaper, Minister Lavalie said that the government had already mobilized resources to embark on the project, and called for unity among community people as a way of complimenting government to achieve its dreams for their community. She added that she has been living in Goderich community since 1983, and because of this she is passionate about the project, pleading for community people not to politicize the project, and described it is a development which would benefit everybody.
She maintained that they will rehabilitate the old market structure for traders so that they will start using it as soon as possible. She promised to empower traders.
The councilor of WARD 323, Mohamed Mansaray, aka D’Guy, thanked President Julius Maada Bio and the Minister of Finance, Jacob Jusu Saffa, for coming to the aid of the people of Goderich. He noted that he is the brain behind the road project, and added that the people elected him into office because they believed in him. He pointed out that the Project manifests President Bio readiness to go the extra mile for the people of Sierra Leone.
He maintained that he had lobbied for the project last year, and assured those whose property would be affected, would properly be compensated.
He implored property owners to have their documents ready, as the Ministry of Lands together with the government will use those documents as a basis to compensate affected property owners.
