Sierra Leone’s Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Anna Moussa, has expressed delight over Leone Stars draws with the Super Eagles of Nigeria. He expressed such sentiments recently when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Sports, Hon. Ibrahim Yelenkeh, at his Bishop House Office, Siaka Stadium in Freetown.
The visit according to a release was to highlight the performance of the Sierra Leone national team – Leones Stars against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the 2020 AFCON Qualifiers last week.
H.E. Anna Moussa, however said that she was satisfied with the performance of Leones Stars on both home and away matches against Nigeria. “I am so pleased with our boys; they put smile on my face and shocked Nigerians,” she noted.
She however thanked Minister Yelenkeh and the Ministry of Sports for the warm reception accorded her.
The Minister of Sports in his response welcomed the Deputy High Commissioner and intimated her of Leone Stars’ qualification campaign for the 2022 Nations Cup.
“If only we can win our two remaining matches and Nigeria defeats Benin, we are hopeful of qualifying for the next AFCON final,” Minister Yelenkeh added.
He continued: “To hold a big nation like Nigeria to a draw both home and away may likely be a proof that this is our time to qualify.”
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sports, Sumanu O.Z. Algali expressed his delight and wished the Deputy High Commissioners to Nigeria Anna Moussa safe travel back to Abuja, with the hope of receiving her again in the near future.
