Sierra Leone: Hosanna Choir holds first annual celebration

The Hosanna Choir of the Faith Tabernacle Ministry in the east of Freetown has on Sunday December 27, 2020, held its first annual celebration at the Bishop Johnson Memorial Secondary School in Freetown.

As they celebrated, the choristers performed songs titled: ‘welcome,’ ‘sing a new song to thy lord’ and others which were composed by members of the choir.

Isata Lucy Tarawalie, Choir Mistress and Leading Vocalist, explained that the celebration was held to give thanks and praises to God for His blessings and for keeping them through the years.

She explained that the choir started as a praise and worship team but was officially launched as Hosanna Choir in December 27, 2019.

She said that Hosanna is a name given from the bible which refers to a group of people who praises God through music.

“We decided to form this choir in order to worship God, because we believe that worshiping God is the only thing that you would be asked to give an account for after you leave the world,” she said.

She said that before then, they had used to face challenges with instrumentalists, but with their persistence they have had many instrumentalists who now play different musical instruments.

She said that the choir has over 15 members including singers and instrument players.

“We usually compose our own songs and I am very optimistic that in no time from now we will be releasing our albums,” she concluded.
