The Coordinator for the Indian Community, Rajesh Hemnani, has on Friday June 5, 2020, supported the C-19 Dignity Project with Food and non- food items in order for the project to achieve its objectives.
He said that the Indian Community was moved by what they had seen on social media wherein the Founder of the Project was seeking assistance from the public to support its course. He added that based on the aforementioned, the community decided to give their own contribution towards the project.
Chief Executive Officer of the Project, Vickie Romeo, explained that the C-19 Project was established on May 3, 2020, with the object of supporting health care facilities, health care workers and Coronavirus Isolation Centres by providing them with basic hygiene logistics and food items in a bid to combat the virus in the country.
She mentioned that after receiving the support from the Indian Community they would in turn donate the items to targeted health facilities. “We had donated basic hygiene items to health facilities in Port Loko, Makeni, Connaught Hospital and the Prison health facility,” she added.
She added that because the project was formed it has received donation worth Le 80,000,000 in cash and in material from within and outside Sierra Leone.
The item that were donated include Nutribom, Glucometer, Paracetamol, Metaformin, Ciprofloxacin, Amlodipine, Hand Sanitizer, Veronica Buckets etc.
