Sierra Leone: Laborer remanded for illegal possessing of AK 47 rifle

Magistrate Marke Ngegba presiding at Court No.1 on Pademba Road has on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, remanded 27-year-old Tamba Manni, a laborer accused of possessing an AK 47 rifle without lawful justification.

The accused, Tamba Manni is arraigned on the charges of conspiracy and unlawful possession of arms and ammunition.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused  on Wednesday January 1, 2021 in Freetown conspired to commit the crime.

It was also alleged that Manni on Saturday January 2, 2021 at Bai Bureh Road, Wellington was found in possession of one AK47 rifle with serial no (313)565600998 together with one empty Magazine concealed in a small empty imported rice bag without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.

After the charges were read and explained to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.

However, Sergeant 9155 Dwight Macarthy, the substantive Prosecutor applied for a subpoena to be sent to the arresting officer who were not present in court and the exhibit clerk as against the next adjourned date.

The accused was sent on remand at the Male Correctional Centre and the matter was adjourned to Thursday January 21, 2021.
