Sierra Leone: Laborer sentenced to 12 months in prison

Abubakarr Kamara, who had been answering to charges of fraudulent conversion before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of Court No.1 on Pademba Road, Freetown was on Thursday June 18, 2020 sentenced to 12 months in prison. He will serve his prison term at the Male Correctional Centre.

The court concluded on Saturday April 30, 2020, that  Kamara is guilty of deceitfully converting to his own use and benefit one big rubber bowl, 15 pounds of beef, fresh fish,  dried fish, 20 frozen chicken legs and fish-balls to the total worth of over Le2,000,000, which had been entrusted to him by Aminata Bah for safe keeping.

Magistrate Bonnie in her ruling described the conduct of Kamara as wicked and irresponsible.

Similarly, in another matter, Magistrate Bonnie ordered for Komba Alpha, who had been called before the court to answer for the charges of wounding with intent, wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, to be sent on remand. Police are saying that the accused on Thursday June 4, 2020, at Thompson Bay, Off Wilkinson Road, with ill will wounded Kamara Mohamed Mike.

Magistrate Bonnie adjourned the matter which is being prosecuted by Sergeant 9847 Turay M.M. to Friday June 26, 2020.
