Sierra Leone: Laborers Rob Milla Group over Le40m

Laborers at Milla Group Company in the east of Freetown have on Monday June 8, 2020, stormed into the offices of company officials in anger over unpaid and no increment on their wages and robbed over Le40 million.

Alhajie Samba, the Youth Chairman at the Company, told Premier News that the laborers had complained several times over the late payment and non-increment on their salaries. He added that on Friday June 5, 2020, he encouraged them to exercise patience, while he tried to engage the management of the Company.

He said that he approached the management on the issue, but they told him to wait until later, but on Monday June 8, 2020, in the morning hour, over nine laborers attacked some of the company officials and took away a bag containing over Le 40 million, passports, keys and other relevant documents of the company.

He said that the laborers had always complained that their wages are very little relative to the quantum of work they do.

He said that through the intervention of the police, they were able to get hold of a suspect and the empty bag where the money had been and the other documents.
