Alpha Sibbie, a movie Director of, ‘We Yone Concept’ a local movie-making group, has on Thursday October 1, 2020 disclosed to Premier News that soon the group will release a movie titled ‘Private Sorrow’.
Sibbie who wrote and directed the movie said that they will release the movie in November 2020. He said the movie is an epic Sierra Leonean movie which tells the story of, Manjia, a teenage girl and her passionate boyfriend Prince Jibao who were having dreams of being a couple, but their hopes were dashed when the Prince’s father stood up against their intended union, and Manjia’s father became disappointed in her daughter finding love in nobody else, but the Prince who she could never make hers in matrimony.
According to Sibbie the movie is a depiction of true love which “gets painted by the dark agony of hatred, envy, and enmity of the parents who are solely responsible to protect that very relationship, then nothing is expected rather than Sorrow.”
Sibbie explained that he developed passion in arts and writing when he was young, and added that he had been well known for doing very beautiful drawings, and he wrote his first unpublished biography novel while he was in JSS II.
Alpha Sibbie developed desperate passion for acting and decided to join a movie group where he started as PA (Personal Assistant) to his Director, Kenneth K. Moriba in Bo. Few years later, Sibbie directed his first movie (Fruit of Life) at the age of 18 in 2013.
Sibbie hit the spotlight after directing Tribal War, a movie that was banned from the market due to the public perception of the title.
In 2016, Sibbie was awarded best screen writer and best movie director at the Bo Entertainment Awards (BEA) just after the Tribal War saga.
“In July 2019, I was awarded best Sierra Leone movie director at the SLAAM awards in Maryland. That was two months after I received best movie director awards at Bo entertainment awards Vol 4,” he concluded.
