Sierra Leone: Local moviemakers to release ‘Dead Zone’

Jeremiah Fallah Amara Ngevao, aka Jef Ano, a screen writer and a movie director of Peak Media, a local group which produces movies, has told Premier News that they will release a new movie titled ‘Dead Zone’ in December 2020.

According to Ngevao the movie is packed with thrilling action, love, comedy, suspense and also stars a number of likeable and unlikeable characters.

He further explained that, the movie is set in a forest inhabited by a clan of people who lived peacefully in the bush, with no rules, but only with the knowledge and consciousness that the forest was their home, and that it could provide them with their means of sustenance. But somewhere in the forest, was an ancient and sacred shrine (the shrine of BADUN), a place where demons and evil spirits that threatened the life of the bush clan, were said to be imprisoned by ancient sorcerers and they were meant to be there trapped for eternity for the safety of mankind, only without the spilling of human blood.

He said that human blood was spilled in the shrine, the demons and evil spirits were released from the trapping and they entered and possessed the power thirsty men who released them. The clan which was existing in the forest was destroyed, except the son of the clan leader, Kalibo, who was the pride of the clan and the protector of the people.

He alone escaped and accidentally found himself in the ancient shrine of Badun where the spill of his blood falls on the markings in the shrine.

The demons and evil spirits were released from their long trapping and entered and possessed Kalibo giving him unmatched powers, and made him very dangerous.

He became a vicious hunter, who kills anyone who enters the forest, innocent or guilty, good or bad, strong or weak, two legged or one legged, all were foes to Kalibo as long as they dared to enter the forest.

Hence the forest was a DEAD ZONE, a totally forbidden place for anyone to be.

He explained that, he had written many scripts for production houses which have ended up as movies like: Wrong Deed, Love is wicked, to name but a few, and had assisted in many movies like Sin City, Titus 2.2, Tradition vs Love, Fatim, Refugees, etc.

“I have directed three projects that are mine: Dead zone, Soul on Rio and Caught up. I am presently working on a six in one project with many fascinating titles like: Death Sentence, Hostage, Stream of Miseries etc.”

He describes himself as very diligent and dedicated in his screen writing career, adding that “his scripts are full of tiny moments of perfect irony.”

He continued, “I believe in innovation at its best, and also originality. I believe in the concept of doing things that are phenomenal and that leave footprints in the sand of history. I write and direct to make a difference that will be remembered.”
