Andrew Modupeh Bonnie commonly known as Modumili, a local musician in the West of Freetown, has on Monday January 11,2021 said that he is to release an Extended Play (EP) titled ‘On God’, consisting of eight songs: Dear God,’ ‘Ar nor Bin Know, Life, Sugar, Too bad etc.,in February 2021.
He said that he chose to title the song ‘On God’ because; he believes that amid every challenge in life God would save us.
“Being an artist was not an easy thing for me, but with the help of some of my friends together with the intervention of God, I was able to compile my EP,” he said.
He said that he featured Bloq Jones, a local reggae musician, in one of the EP’s song titled ‘Dear God’.
He sings Afro-pop and sometimes hip-hop.
He said his career in music took off in 2016 having been inspired by his then producer Boy George.
He has collaborated with many Sierra Leonean music stars like Mos B, in a song titled ‘Sorry’, and both Kazy and Mos B in another song titled ‘Too Much.’
He said that Pupa Baja, Emerson and Shadow Boxer are the three local musicians who have inspired him a lot.
He also said that before he reached his present form in music, his family restricted his involvement in music, he encountered management problems and some DJs rejected his songs because he had no money. But his passion for music helped him to overcome all those challenges. He revealed that he is intending to open a music label, and advised that one must never consider giving up on ones dreams.
“Keep pressing on. Before becoming what you want to be… Even those international stars we may be admiring today, they have passed through a lot,” he concluded.
