Ibrahim Conteh, aka Ibzon, a music studio engineer and producer in the east of Freetown, has called on his colleagues to help produce good music which would boost Sierra Leone’s entertainment industry to another level.
Conteh told Premier News on Friday that, people could only listen to music when it is good, and urged other music studio engineers and producers to work as professionals to ensure that they produce good music.
“Whenever an artist comes with a song in the studio that is not properly arranged, engineers should have the potential to help him or her arrange the song or advise the individual to work on it again so that good product would be produced at the end of the day. Money is important, but our good image should be the first priority,” he said.
Conteh says that he is also a songwriter, and he has been producing songs for musicians for a very long time. He writes Gospel and Secular songs.
“Musicians usually come with their songs from other studios to my studio for further corrections. Musicians used to get good concept, but in order to make their songs stand out, the engineers should contribute greatly,” he said.
He advised persons who might be interested in being studio engineers to empower themselves with knowledge of the trade to be in a position to produce good good music.
He also motivated studio engineers and producers to make it a point of duty to acquire more technical skills and knowledge in that area of expertise, and criticized the fact that many people are posing to be sound engineers and music professionals who do not have the requisite expertise for them to hold themselves out as expert in the field.
According to him this situation has led to factors that has led to producing substandard music which he said has been the reason for the drab image of the music industry in Sierra Leone.
“Producing good music for musicians will enable people to go in more for it.” Conversely he called on musicians to apply the right effort to compose good music, stating that “going to the studio with well-arranged music, the engineer would be happy to work and at the end there would be good music.”
He said that taking good music promoters and DJs would enthuse them play the songs on the radio because people like to listen to good music.
Ibzon is a singer of different genres like Zuk, afro, RnB and many others.
